How To Establish a "Spiritual Base" For My Life

Believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for me and showed He was God by coming back to life.
1 Corinthians 15:1-8
Accept God's forgiveness for my sins.
Romans 3:22-26
Switch to God's plan for my life.
Mark 1:14,15; Romans 12:2
Express my desire for Christ to be the director of my life through a request (prayer) and baptism (immersion in water).
Matthew 28:18-20; Romans 6:1-4 & 10:9; Acts 2:38; Galatians 3:26,27

Step 1
Prayer of Repentance to God

"Dear God, I believe you sent your son, Jesus, to die for my sins so I can be forgiven. I'm sorry for my sins and I want to live the rest of my life the way you want me to. Please put your Spirit in my life to direct me. In Jesus' name I ask."

Step 2
Ask Someone to Baptize You in Water

This says to the world, "I am committed to God." According to Romans 6:1-4 baptism (burial in water) is a symbol of Jesus' burial in the tomb. If we become like Jesus in his death and burial, we will also be like him in life.

Suggestions: It does not matter who baptizes you. A preacher. Your spouse. A friend. A relative. They can baptize you in a bathtub, in a river, in a church baptistery, in the ocean, in a pickle barrel, etc. The point is that you are following God's first plan for your life, obedience.

Step 3
Now What?

People who have sincerely taken the above steps become members of God's family of Believers. A new world of freedom and strength is available through prayer and obedience to God's will. New Believers can build their relationship with God by reading their Bible every day, and by getting involved with other believers (find a strong church home).

Scriptures

"Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born." 1 Corinthians 15:1-8

"This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished, he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus." Romans 3:22-26

"After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. The time has come, he said. The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!" Mark 1:14,15

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is, his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2

"Then Jesus came to them and said, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

"What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life." Romans 6:1-4

"That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9

"Peter replied, Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Acts 2:38

"You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ." Galatians 3:26,27
