Come As You Are: MomCo Kickoff Recap

Our very first MomCo meeting was messy in the best way—yes, I had baby spit-up on me while welcoming moms. And honestly… that kind of sums up why MomCo matters. Real life, real people, and a place to breathe.

One mom held her newborn and told me, “I really needed this. I need more mom friends in my life right now.” I felt that in my bones.

We talked about rediscovering what it means to be good company and good friends—choosing real-life connection over curated life—and showing up fully in our everyday relationships with each other and with God. A lot of moms walked in exhausted… carrying the weight of running all the things during the week, sometimes without their other half around.

But by the end? Moms were hugging, holding each other’s babies, and encouraging one another. Conversations that started over chips and guac turned into real support.

Scripture to meditate on: Galatians 6:2 — “Carry each other’s burdens…”
That’s what I want MomCo to be: a place where you don’t have to carry it all alone.

New faces are always welcome. Come as you are—messy, no makeup, no need to apologize for being late. If you’ve been on the fence, next Friday is a great week to jump in. I really believe you’ll leave known and heard (and maybe with a new friend).

Word Over Worry: MomCo at Cornerstone
At MomCo this week, our theme was “Word over Worry.” We talked about how God’s Word doesn’t just comfort us—it leads us:“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”(Psalm 119:105). When anxiety creeps in, we don’t have to carry it alone or figure it out in our own strength. We can go to Him—again and again—and let His truth guide our next step. One of the sweetest moments was seeing real community in action: our KidCo leader commented on how kind all of our kids were, and moms were picking up and bouncing fussy babies so other moms could finish their crafts. We made keychains with a special word or phrase—something simple you’ll see throughout your day that reminds you to be encouraged. If you’ve been on the fence about coming…just come. We’d love to meet you, and you belong here. WANT TO JOIN IN? MomCo at Cornerstone: Interruptions Aren’t Inconveniences
I walked away from MomCo today thinking about something we all deal with… interruptions. The kind that show up right in the middle of your plan, your to-do list, your “I’m finally getting ahead” moment. But what if interruptions aren’t inconveniences? What if they’re opportunities—little openings God uses to deepen relationships and build real community. One of the biggest takeaways for me is this: when we prioritize relationships over tasks, we create more meaningful moments in motherhood. And honestly, I need this reminder as much as anyone. Don’t get so busy planning that perfect life for everyone around you that you forget to actually be a part of it. I think one reason we hesitate to let people in (or to invite them over, or to ask for help) is because we feel like we have to be totally ready and put together first—like someone can’t see the messy parts. But the truth is: the messy parts are where real life happens. And real friendships are built in those moments—when someone needs help, when plans change, when we show up for each other without pretending everything is perfect. Here’s my challenge for you this week: come up with a way to make your friendships feel more like they did in the 90s. More drop-by energy. More “need anything?” texts. More real conversations. More connection that doesn’t require a two-month scheduling window. Today we even made friendship flower bouquets—and I loved the picture it gave us. Just like each flower has its own beauty, color, and role, our friendships are meant to be diverse. Different people bring different gifts, encouragement, and strength to our lives. If you’re a mom who’s craving community (or you’re new in town, or you’ve been doing everything on your own), you are so welcome at MomCo at Cornerstone. Come as you are—messy bun, busy schedule, real life and all. This is a place to breathe, be encouraged, and build friendships that actually hold up when life interrupts.
